Susie Freeman

Susie Freeman is a textile artist who has exhibited widely around the world. Her work is in the form of clothes, fabrics and framed pieces constructed with a unique pocket technique. These transparent pockets contain a plethora of objects ranging from shells, stones and sequins to tiny photographs, packaging and pharmaceuticals. While sometimes purely decorative, her pieces often illustrate themes of an artistic, personal or medical nature.

Susie Freeman studied Textiles and Fashion at Manchester Polytechnic and has an MA in Textiles from the Royal College of Art. Her work is in many public collections including The Victoria and Albert Museum, Gallery of English Costume Manchester, The Crafts Council, The British Council and Kwangju Textile Museum South Korea.
